Service Description

Did you love white water rafting but wish you could have had a bit more control? This session is designed to give somebody the best possible introduction to white water kayaking. We'll meet at Sandy Lane in Chester and paddle down through town to the mighty Chester Weir, where a set of water steps have been built for fish to pass up the river. These steps also serve as an excellent play spot for kayakers! Once done, we'll head back upstream soaking up the sights along the way. Under the guidance of expert instructors, you'll have a taster for what white water kayaking is all about. No kayaking experience is necessary, but it helps if you a degree of fitness and coordination, an open mind and a can-do attitude. This experience is roughly 2.5 hours long and the distance paddled over that time is roughly 4 kilometres. The trip involves kayaking on grade 2 whitewater and repeatedly walking over uneven and slippery ground. By the end of the experience you'll not only have learned a bit more about kayaking but you'll also have conquered your first rapids in your own boat. Please note: For this trip, participants should be over 12 year old and any under 18s should be accompanied by an adult. All of our Chester based trips launch from Sandy Lane Park. This is a mobile operation that does not have a centre building. This means that we launch from a public space, and have access to a public toilet facility. You'll be supplied with a wetsuit for this session. For changing, we recommend all customers bring an XL towel or changing robe to allow for modesty.
